Expenses are covered entirely by donations. Any monthly shortages are personally funded by founder, Abdul Jalal Khan. We are currently in the process of receiving approval from Bangladesh’s Government for funding aid.
Absolutely! We have received toys for the children, new and used clothes, numerous appliances such as refrigerators, vacuums, microwaves, television, etc. Small items are taken directly in luggage from the US to Bangladesh. Large donated items are often arranged to be purchased directly in Bangladesh and brought to the orphanage. Please email khanorphans@gmail.com if you would like to donate items or inquire if there are any immediate needs.
We encourage you to donate as much as you feel comfortable giving. Your donation goes much further than you think and every dollar counts.
The orphanage is located in the town of Kharpara, Rajnagar in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh.
Currently, there are 25 orphans that live in the facilities who have lost their mother and father and do not have means of support from any other extended family members.
There are an additional 30-40 children from neighboring areas who stay and use the facilities of the orphanage during the day. They are either cared for by a single parent or come from extremely poor background that their mother or father is not able to afford to send them to school or feed them during the day. The orphanage takes these children in during the day where they can interact with other children, receive basic education and books as well as be provided meals.
Yes! If you are in or planning to go to Bangladesh you are always welcome to visit and spend time with the children at the orphanage as well as lend a hand to the staff. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a visit.
